Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology (SMIT), established in 1996, is a self-financing engineering college located on Kundrathur Main Road, about 15 km from Chennai. Approved by AICTE and affiliated with Anna University, the institution is recognized by the UGC under 2(f) and 12(B), and has participated in both NIRF and AISHE rankings. Now in its 28th year, SMIT is committed to quality education in Engineering and Management, and was accredited with an A Grade by NAAC in 2024.
We offer 16 UG programs — including core streams like Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, IT (since 1996), and emerging fields like Biomedical, Robotics & Automation, Mechatronics, AI & Data Science, and Pharmaceutical Engineering (since 2020). Our PG programs include M.E. in various disciplines, along with MCA and MBA. Five UG programs have been accredited twice by NBA, and reaccreditation is underway.
